Jan Potgieter
Jan has years of experience in Information Technology which ranges from Unix Administration through System Administration and development, Web and Database Development and Administration and applying Agile methodologies.
Jan enjoys working on his own as well as in a team and his strong point is customer relations. He enjoys making and keeping his customers happy.
Jan has been working with databases since 1996 when he had his first exposure to Sybase databases. He got involved with SQL Server in the early 2000’s and had exposure to SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 and all the rest.
Jan did his first SQL Server certification in 2014:
- 70-461: Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012
- 70-462: Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Databases and
- 70-463: Implementing a Data Warehouse with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and
- 70-464: Developing Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Databases.
Database Interests
Jan like to find an easy and secure way to host data and have been using a few type of databases, namely:
- Sybase
- SQL Server
- MySQL
He has a great passion for working with data and believe the best way to become an expert in a field is by teaching the subject.
