Problem
I'm a big fan of your Microsoft certification series and I was studying for the 70-534 exam. However, I heard there is a new exam 70-535 that will replace the 70-534. Can you answer some questions about this new exam?
Solution
Sure. In this tip, we will review this new exam and provide some useful resources to study for the exam.
Who should take this exam?
This exam is oriented to DBAs, Data Scientist, Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Developers or other professionals who want to learn or who want to be certified in Azure technologies.
Is this exam a requirement for any Certification?
This exam is optional to get the MCSA in Azure (Cloud Platform Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate), it is also an optional exam for the MCSE in Cloud Platform and Infrastructure and the MCSD: App Builder.
Is the exam easy?
No. If you do not have experience with Hadoop, Azure, Virtual Machines (VMs), Azure Active Directory (AAD), Azure Web Apps, Azure Service Fabrics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Search, Azure Data Bases, Azure Networking, Big Data and other similar technologies, you will have a hard time with this exam.
Why is the 70-534 going to be replaced with this new one?
Because the topics for this exam changed a lot. It was decided to create a new exam instead of just updating the 70-534 exam.
What will happen to the exam 70-534?
After November 30, 2017 you will not be able to register for this exam.
What will happen to people who already took the 70-534 exam?
The exam will be valid, but no longer available. This exam will be retired on December 31, 2017.
What is the relationship between SQL Server and this certification?
Everything is migrating to Azure. SQL Server on-premises is gradually being migrated to Azure and the unstructured data is being stored in the cloud. You can query data from SQL Server on-premises or Azure SQL using PolyBase. This exam contains useful topics related to Azure like Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure SQL Databases and other technologies than you may need in the future if your company plans to move from on-premises to Azure. You will learn what is new in Azure and you find what is useful to your company to buy some Azure Services.
Why is this exam in English only?
This exam is new, but will be available in multiple languages soon.
What are the main differences between the exam 70-534 and 70-535?
The exam 70-534 includes main 6 topics. The 70-535 includes 7 topics. The main topics are different.
The 70-535 includes more features to study like CosmosDB, DMZ, WAF, AAD, Azure Key Vault, Event Grid and more.
