Is there ever a need to restore the SQL Server master database?
The master database would need to be restored in the event it showed corruption during a consistency check. It could also need to be restored if a server becomes corrupt and Windows is reinstalled. After installing SQL Server the master database that was installed with the instance would need to be replaced with the previous version.
How to restore the SQL Server master database?
The master database cannot be restored in the traditional manner. In fact, if it is significantly corrupted, it may not even allow the service to start.
