I worked for a company that was very strict about locking your computer whenever you left your desk (we were in rows of desks with cubicles around us). There was one user that kept leaving all the time, so we would just lock it for him and turn on Caps Lock. This was before the days that you would get a warning if Caps Lock was on. When he would return to his desk and try to login, he would ultimately fail three times, and then have to contact the help desk to unlock his account.

He never seemed to learn to check Caps Lock, so he wanted to pull that on us. To foil his play, we each took a screen shot of our home screens and set it as our screen saver background, so it would appear that we hadn't locked our computer, when we actually had. It was fun to watch him swoop in to pull the trick on one of us, when we actually had locked our computer.

I wish there was annother DBA here so I could try this one out.

Here's a trick we played on someone last week.   If they leave their machine unlocked, and have three monitors, swtitch the outer monitors.  Left -> right and right -> left.  It's simple and fast, and annoying as hell until they figure it out.
